Sobriety

A wonderful thing happened back in '93 and again in '94.  This person discovered a new freedom and a joy and a road to real self discovery and an unfolding that has become the gift that keeps on giving.  More stuff will follow here, with guest contributions and special thoughts.

Hi, This thought is from Epictetus, Discourses Book I,
"How should we strugle against difficulties?
It is difficulties that show what men are made of.  Consequently, when a difficulty befalls, remember that God, like a ;hysical trainer, has matched you with a rugged young man.  What for?  Some says, So that you may become an Olymic victor, But that cannot be done without sweat.  To my bway of thinking no one has got a finer difficulty than the one you have got, if only you are willing to make use of it as an athlete makes use of a young man to wrestle with.
For those sensitive to today's "politically correct" verbiage, i ask that you remember that these writings took place during the first century, and in Rome.
  Smile, the world needs you.
Here we are once  more, at the brink of our life.  Which way to go?  Does it really matter?  Not if you have read all the signs and omens, listened to your heart, kept your senses open.  Go ahead, take the step, and don't look back.  There's too much new, right now, to waste time on what might have been.
